The PGIC Soccer Tournament took place two Saturdays ago, and what a massive success it was. Although PGIC were not the eventual winners on the day - the title going to the team from UQ, a great day of fun and fair play was had by all.
The tournament was made of 8 teams that were invited by PGIC. Russo English, ACE College, Concordes, Qld University of Technology, University of Qld & Shafston College plus two teams fielded from PGIC.
All the colleges took part in the competition to reach ultimate football glory. $1000 first place prize. Special mention must go to PGIC Blue - who reached the semi-finals of the round-robin tournament, only to be knocked out by the team from Shafston College.
UQ were the champions on the day, defeating QUT in the final - and receiving the $1,000 prize.
It was great to see so many students - whether playing in the teams, officiating as linesmen, cheering from the sidelines or working on the BBQ to make the day truly special. Thank you to everybody who helped!
Another massive thank you to Renzo for putting the competition together - it was a huge responsibility to undertake, and he did it with great professionalism. Thanks must also go to Greg and Gareth for putting the teams together, coordinating training and making the day run as smoothly as possible - and Kaspar for his great photos that capture the fun of the day. Have a look below!
We've doubled our Table Tennis tables from one - to two. That means twice the action, and twice the fun.
Students will now be able to use both tables during their lunch breaks, and before or after class.
With the Table Tennis Tournament coming up very soon, don't forget to sign up and be involved. It promises to be a very exciting competition with two tables running at one time!

Let's not forget that PGIC has also bought a NINTENDO Wii for more lunctime fun...
The Wii will become available for students very soon - and we hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to battle it out with your friends on Wii Sports, Mario Kart and several other games...
Today we're posting some videos from one of our Saudi Arabian students, Mishal...
Over the last six months, Mishal has captured many of his memories during his time here at PGIC, and presented them in video form via YouTube. If you take a look at the videos below, you may just see yourself, your friends here at the college, or friends that may now be back in their own countries.
It's football finals fever in Australia at the moment, with Geelong defeating Adam's favourite team St. Kilda last weekend in the AFL (Australian Rules Football) Grand Final... (Adam did cry a little bit).
This weekend, it's the Rugby League Grand Final - with Melbourne Storm taking on Parramatta Eels in a final showdown. Last weekend Melbourne Storm destroyed Brisbane Broncos 40-10 in their semi-final, and they are tipped as favourites to win.
This Sunday afternoon, we will host a PGIC activity for students interested in watching the final.
Meeting outside PGIC (in the smoking area) at4pm, students and CP's will go to a pub in the city to watch the match with other Australians.
Interested students should write their name on the sign-up list at the Activities Desk before Friday afternoon. We hope to see you there guys!
Welcome to the new PGIC Student Blog. The purpose of the blog is to keep you up to date with new and upcoming activities inside and outside the college, as well as posting photos, videos & anything else relevant from past events.
The blog will be maintained by the Conversation Partners, so please feel free to ask us any questions when you see us around the college. It's our job to make your life in Australia & PGIC the best that it can be - developing your English conversation skills through Lunch & Conversation clubs & taking part in the different activities we do here.
If you need to know any more information about these things, please see Gareth at Activities Desk. See you all very soon!
